RESEARCH POSITIONS
1988-current NASA Ames Research Center Principal Investigator, Spatial Auditory Display Laboratory
Research and development of new audio technologies for advanced human-machine interfaces for aeronautic and space applications, virtual environments, auditory displays, and speech communications. Coordination of research grants, experiments and publications on spatial hearing, speech intelligibility, human performance (time-accuracy-subjective evaluation), room acoustic analysis and simulation, audio-haptic and audio-visual interaction, and advanced technologies for communications and warning systems. Cross-laboratory team organization (“Advanced Controls and Displays Group”); formed International Space Act agreements with Bang & Olufsen, McGill University, Alegent Health. Worked with diverse group of researchers and programmers to form new technology prototypes in response to customer needs (NASA, defense, homeland security) and for technology transfer. Work with NASA-JSC personnel on updating of HSIR standards for acoustics.
