Abstract
During a spaceflight mission, astronauts in the space shuttle obtain much information from cockpit displays that convey critical details, such as the status of the main engines and the electrical systems. In the original design of the space shuttle, the displays contained simple monochrome graphics with dense arrays of numbers. In the proposed upgraded cockpit, the displays contain a better layout of information through enhanced graphics and color. The goal is to reduce the time necessary for an astronaut to interpret and analyze key information about the vehicle.
