Shuttle MIDAS - Scenario Description

The following is a simulation of an agent operator representing an astronaut as they perform a nominal ascent into orbit. In the simulation demonstrated in the MIDAS movie file, the agent Jackä is following the flight profile associated with a normal liftoff of the Space Shuttle. The phrase "we have liftoff" is the key to beginning the MIDAS agent's performance in the simulation. During this initial phase, the agent is to monitor Stage 1 (the stage prior to Solid Rocket Booster Separation) and Stage 2 (the stage following the SRB separation through until Outer Space is reached) of the ascent.

Stage 1 is primarily a verification stage where the agent verifies:

* The initial thrust
* Major mode (MM)102
* Thrust pressure chamber (PC 104)
* The roll program
* The load relief
* Engine parameters
* Out of bucket
* Monitor systems prior to Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) separation
* SRB separation

Stage 2 invokes a little more monitoring than does Stage 1. The agent in Stage 2 verifies:

* The guidance system
* The orbital maneuvering system (OMS) burn
* Monitors systems prior to heads up roll
* The heads up roll
* Monitors the systems prior to Main Engine Cut-Off (MECO)
* Monitor the pre-MECO tasks
* MECO
* Extra Tank (ET) separation
* Major Mode 104
