Division Booths at the Bay Area Science Festival
(Nov 5, 2016)
On November 5, 2016, the Human Systems Integration Division hosted two booths at the 2016 Bay Area Science Festival (BASF) Discovery Day at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The festival showcased over 150 exhibits along with numerous stage performances plus an appearance by former astronaut Steven Smith. Several thousand people visited the two division booths, which featured hands-on demonstrations of Next Generation Air Traffic Management (ATM) concepts, including a new Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) system. In addition, the booths included a demonstration of a self-scheduling tool called Playbook that allows astronauts and controllers to manipulate timelined mission activities. Division researchers and staff were on hand to talk about the division's research and distribute outreach materials. More information on the division is at http://hsi.arc.nasa.gov.
