Dr. Cowings to be Featured in People in Aerospace History Exhibit at Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum
(Jan 28, 2008)
Dr. Patricia Cowings was selected to be featured in an "important people in aerospace history" exhibit being developed by graduate students at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Cowings worked with grad student Bridgitte Rodguez, one of several students taking part in the museum exhibit design course, on the development of the display about her career at NASA. For more than 20 years, Dr. Cowings has been responsible for planning and conducting research into space-induced physiological changes and developing non-medical countermeasures for NASA. Most recently, Dr. Cowings was a Principal Investigator who took part in the 9th NEEMO (NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations) underwater mission that ended in October 2007. The George Washington University student projects are scheduled to be displayed in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum for approximately six weeks, beginning at the end of December.
