Object detection in cluttered infrared images  (2003)
Abstract Header
The research used an image sequence discrimination model developed at NASA several years ago in collaboration with a visiting scientist from that laboratory who has gone on to work in industry. This research and publication illustrate how work funded by a program (in this case, AOS) can continue to grow on its own. This new work was facilitated by the availability on the web of MatLab code to make precisely clear the algorithm details.

Dr. Ahumada reports that the basic workings of his text readability index have been made available on the web in MatLab for an example case of computing the readability of a single letter. By parameter adjustment, both newer and older indexes can be realized.

A comprehensive review of the way vision standards have been set in a variety of occupations has been re-edited and re-released to the FAA: Beard, B.L., Hisle, W.A., Xing, J., & Ahumada, A.J. (2002). Behind the setting of vision standards for aircraft maintenance inspection. Report for FAA AAR-100.
